Very enjoyable post. Why did you choose that community for your vacation? I love getaways in small towns or communities and am interested to hear how you chose the way you did.
Good question. I wanted to stay within 5 hours or so of home (this is 4hrs 20 min on Google Maps - takes us longer of course!). I knew I wanted to come North to Arkansas. We love the Smokey Mountains but do not tolerate the long trip very well. I had a financial constraint. And I had a goal - to rest and read and not do much - so being in a city or town was not necessary. I narrowed it down to about three places, this was my second choice. The first renter required we buy a damage insurance policy (which, to me, seems to be on the renter's end of responsibilities), and we were willing, but then he didn't take the credit card we were using, so two strikes and he was out. This place was second, and it has been delightful!
That sounds perfect. I think that going to a beautiful spot to read (and write) would be close to heaven. May you continue to enjoy and I'm looking forward to reading a review of the books you're reading in a substack soon. 😀
Thank you so much John, what a lovely surprise! I've sent over an email, but it may have landed in your junk/spam folder—my emails often do—so do check there too.
So glad you could both get away for some uplifting “downtime”. Your photos speak volumes. God’s creation ministers to us...when we take the time to notice.
