I photographed the previous full moon, the Sturgeon Moon at the beginning of this month. I posted those pictures HERE. On that night I actually drove around searching for the perfect vantage point. Last week I just felt moved to photograph the moon of that night, and posted those pictures HERE. Now here I go again, with the Blue Moon (see above, and below!). You might note that the moon is not blue. It’s not supposed to be..
Since I’ve been dealing with some tendonitis on my right achilles heel, I was not in the mood to go driving all over the parish looking for a great picture spot. I was satisfied to wait until it arose above the trees in my neighborhood.
There are some super geeky details about this moon that make it not only “super” but “super rare”. Apparently, Saturn is especially visible and we won’t see this combo again until 2037. According to the Smithsonian website (HERE) we haven’t had two full moons in one month in a couple of years. You can read all about it HERE and a hundred other websites.
Here are some pictures I took this evening. They are not spectacular, maybe, but I also wrote a haiku, and you are not getting a better bargain than that for your money!
First the pictures.
And now a haiku for you poetic types.
When I look up high
The moon was round bright and close
It was not blue though
It was not blue though
If I squint and turn my head
I see red and stars
I see red and stars
From the ground where I fell down
It looks a little blue now
The entertainment never stops. I hope you enjoyed the pictures. If you did, a click on the heart means more photos soon. I haven’t been out taking many pictures because I am allergic to extreme heat. Well, I may be. I don’t want to test it. Cooler days are ahead, I feel assured.
Really enjoyed reading this piece, your haiku, and seeing these photos--such brightness and beauty. And I love that you included the song at the end. Thank you for writing / sharing this.

Very nice photography skills.
