Love the cardinals! However, I voted for the mockingbird just because of the way they sing. Loud and proud! Everything they ever learned, heard and maybe even saw is in their song. They are vocal acrobats, are marvelous to listen to and always stop me in my tracks.

Hahaha I wondered who would vote for anything besides a Cardinal! LOL I do love the mockingbirds too.

I am on LinkedIn but it doesn’t seem like social media to me and I just scan it. I remain on X because I want to keep up with certain writers and theologians who post there and find interesting things to read, plus get local and regional news snippets. There are many things I don’t like but Facebook and Instagram were time wasters and also gave too much of time away that I needed for other people and priorities.

Screwtape is a great, great book - as you say it has so much to reflect on. There's an audio recording of it on YouTube where the reader is the incomparable John Cleese - I really recommend that. I love those George Burns quips, maybe because age is fast becoming a reality!! Thanks, too, for the kind mention John.

I didn't know about the audio recording, will have to check that out. Thanks! George Burns... and Gracie... quite a love story. He had a way with words. Appreciate you, Richard!

I really like all those birds except maybe the vulture. I had an altercation with a vulture once on a walk. The vulture was enjoying a recent find of a dead carcass and I thought if I just kept walking it would fly away but it became a showdown situation and I have to say it really freaked me out. But really I live all the rest. The seagull is so beautiful when you see them soaring on the wind that it lifts your spirits. I enjoy hearing the funny old Grackle when I am at the grocery store parking lot. They are so jolly that I won’t hold the time one swooped down at my head against them. The mocking bird is so inventive with their singing that it always makes me smile when I hear one and of course the red cardinal is a treat for the eye whenever you spot them. I always have to say: O look a cardinal!!! Praise God for his variety of creations that are new every morning!!

So true that each bird has something to offer ... Good going on noting those things! That vulture story tho...woop! Seagulls are just pretty vultures...but true, they do look beautiful when flying!

And just after breakfast this morning I got to see 4 pelicans flying over the golf course. Not just one but 4. It was very exciting. I never had seen them fly before. Very special bird sighting today. God is good.
