Hey Rex! Ray Stedman surmised that the rich young ruler was actually Mark. First I had heard of that thought. It is such an interesting story. I know you did a great job with it! Have a great week!
Yeah, I get kinda peeved sometime when I fill my 4 feeders up with sunflower seeds and chicken scratch grain (bird rib eye steak), and I see nothing but a zillion sparrows, few cardinals, finches or blue jays.
And then I remember your passage from Luke 12 and I figure, "Well, all is good. Sparrows gotta eat too."
They do, but we all enjoy a wider variety. And you have such an appealing bird station! I wonder if you put a few colorful feeders outside of the station to catch their attention as they fly over?
Great update. I like the Louise Penny series too, though I've only read a handful. They are great cozy mysteries! Like you, I couldn't finish the 3 pines dramatization. Not sure why. Just didn't hold my attention. Keep sharing pictures of those little sparrows. I shared most of 2020 with a family of sparrows as I worked most of the year on my back porch. It's sad when a creature is unappreciated just because they are plentiful and small.
Thanks Chris. I really like murder mysteries ... so many of them these days seem to be filled with gore or violence ... I like to watch the developing story. I loved the Father Brown series that had some humor along with a mystery.
I love audio books. I started them when covid started. I listened to all the Louise Penny books except the last one. I agree, nothing can match the books. I am currently reading Nomadland. That is an eyeopener. My recent audio was The Four Winds about the dust bowls. I really like a good nonfiction and good historical fiction. Any suggestions?
Glad to hear from a Louise Penny fan! Nonfiction is a big wide territory but I really enjoyed James Clear's Atomic Habits and plan to read it a second time. Religious nonfiction I've just read A Holy Meal: The Lord's Supper in the Life of the Church by Gordon T. Smith and found it rich. Historical fiction... outside of my wheelhouse...I'm not sure I've read anything in that genre. Thanks for the response!
I also preached today on the story of the rich man in Mark 10, which is part of my sermon series “Good News” on the Gospel of Mark.

Was the writer of the Gospel of Mark, John Mark from Acts?
I believe so.

Yep. I think at our new house I'm gonna build them a bird condo buffet and invite all comers.
Maybe that will work, but, if it's all sparrows, I'm not mad
Yep. So he had a personality too. Paul didn't want to take him on another mission trip because of a snafu last time he went.
And I think it was his Mom's house where Peter went after the angels busted him out of prison. Somewhere in Acts, I think.
So, at least, we know John Mark had the upraisin, "in the Church," as we say:))

Looking forward to more posts. Be well!
Thanks Bart! Penny weaves a great story!
Another great update. Sorry about Richard.
What kind of shows do you like to watch?
Thanks Chris. I really like murder mysteries ... so many of them these days seem to be filled with gore or violence ... I like to watch the developing story. I loved the Father Brown series that had some humor along with a mystery.
I loved Elementary, the CBS show from a few years back about Sherlock Holmes. Not over the top gore, from what I can recall.
Yes! It was great!

I really enjoyed your bird photos.
