Hope Remains has climbed to over 500 subscribers and I’m grateful for your interest. This coming Thursday is my second birthday on Substack! I had a blog named HOPE REMAINS for several years. I love the format and ease of Substack, so here I am.

I’m Announcing a New Book!

Merry Christmas to a Broken Heart: A Devotional Companion for December is now available in e-book, paperback, and hardcover from Amazon. The e-book is free if you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. It contains a devotional for every day in December for those who are hurting through the holidays. I’m praying this will be a great blessing to those who are in pain from loss. Now for some of our normal Sunday Night Check-In topics. In last week’s poll, 48% of you just have pumpkins on display, not bothering with jack-o-lanterns. For the poll this week, I’m looking for the WORST Halloween candy! If your vote for worst is not listed, put it in the comments (counts as a giveaway entry!). Thinking about strategy…do you buy the candy you don’t like so you won’t be tempted to eat it ahead of time… or buy what you do like… I’m torn.

At Forsythe Church of Christ this morning we studied Romans 9-11, a tough section. We had a lot of people out of town, but we did have some guests and that is always a privilege. Next Sunday we will be studying Romans 12, Lord willing. This coming Wednesday we have a Praise and Prayer service at 6 pm. If you’re local, come on by!

I did make it out to Black Bayou NWR last week - for about an hour. But it was a nice hour. The Harvest Moon was so bright and beautiful this past week as well.

We are getting closer to the release of The Grey Wolf, Louise Penny’s 19th book featuring Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. I can’t wait. Here is some wisdom from Armand Gamache, this one from A World of Curiosities:
