I Guess I'm Crazy
The Sunday Night Check-In for January 11, 2026
Welcome to the Sunday Night Check-In! Welcome, new subscribers! This week, my newest book, Seven Signs, Seven Days, has been on sale for .99 (ebook). I’ve sold about 75, and would love to top 100! That did bump me to #1 in Amazon’s category of books about “Jesus, the Gospels & Acts”. I believe I got to #2 on the “Christian New Testament Study” category. I’m currently 11,000 or so on the overall Kindle list. None of that matters; it is just fun to look at. The book will be .99 through Monday. In case you missed it, HERE IS THE POST with info about the book.
If you haven’t gotten a copy yet, I would love for you to do that before the price goes back up to $4.99! I am very happy with how that project turned out. My next book is on the horizon!
This week, watch for three posts of devotionals from Colossians. We are moving from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2.
FORSYTHE
At Forsythe Church this morning, the message came from John 2:1-11, the account of the wedding feast at Cana. (Notes HERE). This month, we are collecting for the WellSpring Women’s Shelter (wish list HERE). Doug White kicked off his class on Angels this past Wednesday night and will be teaching for several weeks on that subject. GriefShare begins this coming Sunday, and we pray that we can offer some comfort and help to those who are suffering losses.
READING
This week, I finished Seeing the Unseen, Expanded Edition: A 90-Day Devotional to Set Your Mind on Eternity by Randy Alcorn. It was not my favorite devotional book, but it did have some good chapters in it. In our Bible reading group we are still in Genesis.
Although many Substacks have paid subscriptions, my posts are always free! I do have a Hope Remains Gift Registry if you’d like to show some appreciation! Check it out HERE if you are interested. If not, I still love ya!
LISTENING
This morning, in the sermon, I shared some recollections of my wedding 38 years ago. One of the memories was that I sang a song to Maggy during the ceremony. The song is called “Crazy”. It’s not the Patsy Cline classic! I guess I was crazy to do that, but I did! I hope the video of that never escapes the archives, but several asked about the song. Here is Kenny Rogers singing my song in the round!
POLL
In last week’s poll, 58% of you said you had no resolutions at all. 27% want to get organized/declutter, 12% want to lose weight, and 4% want to quit a bad habit. For this week’s poll, I want to ask about Wintertime and Summertime. In Louisiana, we’ve been bouncing between a/c and heat for the past month. There are only two answers this week, so it’s a forced decision!
I know, everyone loves Spring and Fall, but you lean one way or another!
PHOTOGRAPHY
I have not taken the opportunity to get out and take photos lately. But since I’m hopeful for some wintertime yet, here are some snowy photos from Monroe from the archives!

I agree Debi’s post was really touching. Congratulations on the new book. I got my copy yesterday. Looks really good!
I also just started The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan and you should put this on your reading list. I think you would really enjoy it.
