Dad Day Check-In
Sunday Night Check-In for June 21, 2026
It’s time for the Sunday Night Check-In! I’m glad you are here, especially new subscribers. I spent this week trying to get back in the swing of things after being on vacation for a week. We have had some stormy weather in North Louisiana, but nothing like the deluge across South Louisiana and Mississippi. Having been through a flood, it is hard to watch others go through that kind of suffering.
Happy Father’s Day to everyone. Like a lot of people, Father’s Day is a little complicated for me. I’m grateful that God blessed me with many fathers of the faith in my life. Still, I’m glad there is a Father’s Day because I love seeing dads embrace their role and lead their families through service and grace.
I’m hearing from those who have read the third entry in the Stillwell Crossing series that they are enjoying it! That makes me happy. I certainly enjoyed writing them. If you have read it, a rating and brief review on Amazon would make a huge difference in helping me get the word out. The books are free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers, inexpensive for everyone else! If you are local, I do have paperbacks on hand of these and other books I’ve written.
FORSYTHE CHURCH
This morning at Forsythe, I spoke about Hezekiah’s Heart. You can find the notes to that sermon HERE. Wednesday night, we will have a sandwich supper at 5 and then a concert at 6 by a singing group from Pepperdine University. Everyone’s invited to come out and be encouraged by these young voices lifting up the name of the Lord! This coming Sunday, we will have a report from the mission team about their trip to Honduras and a message from Daniel Kirkendall. It would be a great time to visit! Our collection this month is for the St. Francis Cancer Center. We are collecting grippy socks and hard candy to offer some comfort to the patient. Our Amazon wish list is HERE if you’d like to participate.

LISTENING
Phil Wickham has been on fire, releasing great worship music. This one is Living Hope.
Homesick For Heaven … always brings a tear or two.
WATCHING
Last Wednesday, the premiere of this season’s ALONE arrived. I always look forward to this great survivalist series on the History channel. We finished the first season of NICS Origins and should begin season two this week. If you are watching something really great, let me know in the comments!
PHOTOGRAPHY
Here are a few more photos from the back yard.

A few photos from the Georgia trip.
These rat snakes were in a hollowed-out part of a tree on the trail.
THANK YOU!
If you read this far, bless you! Feel free to share that with friends and family! This night owl has done his work. Take care, friends. Work hard, smile often, rest well, and stay connected. The world needs you now more than ever! Until next time!

Beautiful wildlife photos, John. Although I did not need to see those snakes! I just came across Alone on Stack TV and would like to watch it again. My husband does not share my love of survival shows.
Looking forward to picking up a copy of your book!
