I’ve had a first unhappy experience with substack - a comment from someone not too sensitive about how things go here. He didn’t make much sense and also posted about ten links to his own substack. Ugh. I had to figure out how to ban him. Have you had to do that?
Anyway, because we all need more stacks to read, so I’m crowdsourcing! This is a Sunday Shout Out post and I’d like to invite you to do two things in the comments:
Tell us the name of your substack(s) and post a link if you’d like.
Tell us the substack you never fail to read… or maybe your top three. It would be even more fun if you link them.
So, turning a negative into a positive, let’s shout out our favorite stacks! What do you say? Oh, I should go first? I can tell you I subscribe to a lot of stacks but I will ALWAYS read these:
Garrison Keillor and Friends. I never fail to get a big smile and sometimes a belly laugh.
The Waiting Country. Richard Myerscough’s thoughts about Scripture draws me in with expectation.
Jim Martin’s Encouragement Note. I list him because … well… encouragement.
Simple Stories by Heather Holland. I love her little stories and this puts some pressure on her to get the next one out there.
Millers Book Review. Joel J. Miller writes about reading and I love reading about reading.
Release and Gather by Holly Rabalais. Consistently touches my heart.
Oh, there are about a dozen others also…but there you go for this Sunday Shoutout. Maybe I’ll do it again. What makes a great substack? I don’t know all the ingredients, but I do think an author who interacts with commenters is very important. Like today when I interacted with a rude commenter by saying ‘Bye!’ Have a great week friends!
Your favorite stacks are….
Thanks for the shoutout! As you know, the same person left a similar comment on one of my stories, and I reported the comment to Substack.
