It’s time for the Sunday Night Check-in and thank you for spending a few minutes with me. We have five new subscribers this week and you are welcome to say howdy in the comments! Thanks to those who downloaded my free offer last week of my latest book, A Sinner’s Guide to Grace: Good News for the Wayward and Broken. It is no longer free, but it is affordable and I believe it to be encouraging for those who struggle to believe that God loves to forgive us. Last week we took some time away in Georgia and were able to spend some time with granddaughter Claire (as well as grandson Blake, daughter Nicole, and the fabulous Mrs. Maggy). The place we rented was peaceful and comfortable.

We enjoyed our week - it went by quickly! It’s always nice to be home but sorry we couldn’t bring Claire home with us! She has an exciting career in Atlanta and we are very proud of her.
FORSYTHE
This morning at Forsythe Church of Christ we heard from Daniel Kirkendall. He was reporting on their effective and meaningful mission trip to Honduras. I am sorry that the audio on the livestream messed up and the entire presentation is not availble. Daniel created a great slideshow video, posted below. In August we are collecting for The Renewal Center of Northeast Louisiana laundry detergent, plastic forks, and coffee. Those items are on our Amazon Wish List.
READING
This week I read two children’s books by my dear friend David I. Burkett. First was Old McIngram Had a Farm, then his newest one, Down The Road to Sleepy Town. I found both of these delightful and I could hear David’s voice as I read them. I enjoyed them as an adult and I can imagine children enjoying them as well. I also read Breakthrough Prayer: 30-Day Prayer Experience Guide (Christian Devotionals Now Book 1) by J. R. Heimbigner. I think J. R. hit on some very important principles for prayer here. I like the format as he helps readers see how to pray for significant areas of the spiritual journey without directing them too heavily on what to say. FOLLOW J. R. HERE.
WATCHING
At the place we stayed last week Apple TV+ was one of the streaming choices loaded up. My grandson suggested we watch a show called Severance. I knew nothing about it, but agreed. After about 30 minutes he got up and left, leaving me to binge the first season by myself! This show is definitely off the beaten path of shows I like to watch. It’s part thriller, part sci-fi, part psychological drama … I liked everything about it, except two things. I loved the storyline, even as confusing as it was sometimes. The cast is outstanding - especially Patricia Arquette (it took me a long time to recognize her!). So the two things I didn’t like were the language and the ending (but maybe they’ll fix it in the next season).

HORSING AROUND CAN NOW BE RESUMED
Yes, the State Line BBQ in Tallapoosa, Georgia, has a giant gorilla on their front porch. Their BBQ was good, too. If you’re still reading, thank you! Glad you spent a little time with me. This week it is back to regular ministry work and I look forward to that. Time away has been refreshing. The night owl has done his work. Take care, friends. Work hard, rest well, and stay connected. The world needs you.
Always enjoy reading your newsletters! (not horsing around either :}
I tried Severance and just couldn’t get into it. Where in the greater Atlanta were you? I’m not far north from the city.
