With a corny title like that, my hits are going to go through the roof. Or not! Welcome! It’s time for the Sunday Night Check-In! We have five new subscribers! Glad to have you along!
I recently had the opportunity to speak at two different churches on similar topics. I mentioned them last week, but have the links this week. At Levy Church of Christ my subject was “My Grief Story”. At the Jackson Street Church of Christ, my topic was “My Story is God’s Story”. I appreciate both of these good churches for allowing me to come and speak. The next appointment out of town that I have is in August at McComb Church of Christ.
Maggy and I had a low-key anniversary last Thursday, as she was recovering from cataract surgery. Hopefully at some point we can make up for that with a nice dinner out. Thirty-eight years has been a blessing and privilege for me. She deserves a trophy!
FORSYTHE
We continued our series on Holy Habits with a message on Godliness (Notes here). We are collecting items to bless Pilots for Patients this month. Our Amazon Wish List is HERE. Today also we prayed for our team that will be headed to Honduras this Tuesday and returning at the end of the month. I’m sure they would appreciate your prayers.
READING
This week I finished a great devotional book called 30 Nights Celestial Grace - Scriptures and Devotions of our Lord’s Night Sky. I loved Greg Hogan's devotional book that references night, light, stars, etc. The applications are encouraging and uplifting. I highly recommend this as a nighttime reader for end of day. I’ve put the paperback Greg is an excellent photographer. You should also check out his newsletter on Substack called Our Night Sky and the accompanying podcast on YouTube. Excellent. AND he has a new worship album out! This guy never sleeps! Also, Nathan Holland’s The Fisherman’s Net Part Two is out and I have it on the Kindle to read. Can’t wait. In our Bible reading program we are in 1 Corinthians and then to 2 Chronicles. Today is 201 days of reading the Bible daily!
PHOTOGRAPHY
One night last week the back yard seemed like it was glowing. So we went outside and wow what a sky!

A few from the archives. It’s too hot to go out in the woods to take photos!

Thanks for spending a few minutes with me. A couple of items to mention real quick before we go. Still to come is the new book A HOLY LENS: 101 Prayers Focused on God’s Word. Edits are ongoing. It is nearly 300 pages, so it is taking a little time. I’m very excited about that! Because of some renovations at the church building, I’m having to move my office. There are seventeen years of buildup there - so it’s quite a project! I have a Facebook group set up to sell some of my books. I’m selling them by the box instead of individuality. If you’re interested, you can take a look HERE. Keep an eye out as I add to the list!
The night owl has done his work. Night owls and early birders all welcomed here. Take care, friends. Work hard, rest well, and stay connected. The world needs you. I mean it.
Always a pleasure to read your updates. Congrats on your anniversary!
Love the title and pictures John. Your Sunday night check ins never disappoint!
